Title: Oran Mor-style Venue in Glasgow’s East End

Motion Text:

That the Parliament welcomes the Oran Mor-style venue to Glasgow’s east end following the £1.2 million transformation of one of Glasgow’s oldest churches, the former St Luke’s and St. Andrew’s Parish Church in Bain Street to a multi-purpose arts and music venue; notes that funding has been partly provided by Glasgow City Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund to refurbish it into a new music venue, bar and restaurant; understands that this venue will provide opportunities and employment for the local community; understands that a similar venue to Oran Mor, located in the west end, has proven to be popular with five weddings booked and plans to stage major bands, artists and comedians; believes that this will be a fantastic addition to Glasgow’s extensive venue portfolio, and wishes the people behind the development every success in this regeneration.
