Glasgow Labour MSP Anne McTaggart has tabled a parliamentary motion congratulating Drumchapel CAB on its 50th anniversary.
Last year, CAB Scotland reported a client financial gain of £1,931,159. The Drumchapel bureau, which serves the North West of the city, deals with thousands of issues each year. In 2012 alone, they dealt with 9000 cases involving 2564 clients, representing 16 issues for every 100 households in their area.
Ms McTaggart said “Drumchapel CAB has been providing an exceptional service to the people of North West Glasgow for half a century and I was delighted to be able to bring this to the attention of my fellow MSPs. Since its creation, Drumchapel has undergone some dramatic changes. Throughout these years, CAB has been on hand to provide support and advice to those in need.
They are currently facing particularly high demand for their services, partly due to the coalition’s draconian welfare reforms. I would like to applaud all the staff and volunteers at Drumchapel CAB on their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm which ensures that people receive a high quality service at a time of need and wish them all the very best in the future.”
