Glasgow MSP Anne McTaggart has urged people to apply to become a Board Member of Buddies Clubs and Services.
Buddies provides community based play/leisure, social and recreational opportunities for a range of children, young people and adults with disabilities and additional needs giving independence, choice, and the opportunity to be valued as individuals allowing them and their families to lead as normal lives as possible.
They currently have bold plans to maintain and improve the services on offer, whilst also developing new exciting provisions. They have a small number of knowledgeable Board members and are looking for more individuals who feel they have something to offer the organisation.
Ms Mctaggart said “If you think you have something to offer then I would encourage you to get in touch with Buddies. The Board is parent led and the children and young adults, with their families, drive forward and help design the services that are provided.Free play helps all children to develop and integrate into society, and Buddies helps give children with disabilities the same access to play and leisure as other children.”
Buddies particularly want to hear from people who have strong business skills or are a leader in any of the areas they are expanding in such as:
- The Arts (Visual and Performance)
- Social Enterprise
- Event Organisation
- Marketing and PR
- Capital Development and Regeneration
- Vocational training
- Additional needs provision/legislation
Interest can be registered by sending a CV and a short covering letter email@example.com.
