With the World Conference of Credit Unions taking place in Glasgow, Local MSP Anne McTaggart has lodge a parliamentary motion to show support for the event and the importance of Credit Unions as a financial institution.
Anne who is a member of the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee in the Scottish Parliament has long been a supporter of the Credit Union movement and took time to support the conference which took place at the SECC.
Anne McTaggart said:
“It is important to realise that the current economic conditions have came about from irresponsible banking and financial institutions.
I want to see an increased role for Credit Unions to make sure that this economic crisis is never repeated.
The credit union movement already makes a significant contribution to both Glasgow and the rest of Scotland in providing low cost loans but also promoting saving.”
