Glasgow MSP Anne McTaggart has called on the Scottish Government to help increase the number of people who receive insulin pump therapy in Glasgow.
Information from NICE has showing that Scotland only provides insulin pump therapy to around 2.5% of people who could benefit from it, and the figure for Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board area is far worse at only 1.1%.
“The low provision of insulin pump therapy in Scotland is a major issue, and something which the SNP Government has to take action on.
Glasgow in particular has around 700 hundred people who could benefit from insulin pump therapy yet only 67 receive it.
That is a shocking figure and action should be taken to improve it.”
