Glasgow MSP Anne McTaggart has called on the Scottish Government to introduced proposals back by children’s charity Barnardo’s to tackle Youth Unemployment.
Figures released recently indicate that Youth Unemployment has continued to grow under the SNP with an increase of over 10% in the last year alone.
The Glasgow MSP used the parliamentary debate on the SNP Government’s Economic Strategy to call on John Swinney to include a guaranteed maximum waiting time for entry on to the Opportunities for All programme.
Anne McTaggart MSP said:
“Speaking in the Economic Strategy Debate was vitally important for me, as I want to make sure that the SNP Government are held accountable to our young people, as they deserve the best possibly opportunities in life.
“I am supporting Barnardo’s Scotland and their campaign for maximum waiting times for the Opportunities for All programme.
“This will allow for a transparent approach to delivering modern apprenticeships and training places for our young people, but it will also reinforce to Scotland youth that there is the guarantee of a place.
“With youth unemployment so high it is imperative that SNP Government make every attempt to deliver for our young people.”
